Counselling
Life can be difficult, stressful and heartbreaking. While we might have people around us we don’t always want to place our problems on other people. Counsellors are trained to listen, understand and sit with you in the difficulty and then to move with you to a new place to find healing and support. When we work together we will look at ways to recognize the pain (emotional and physical) then we find ways to increase your health and wellbeing. You will develop skills to change your mindset, activate rest and take steps for total health.
Kids and youth also experience stresses. As an adult in their world you have a lot of control in their lives. Our first session is a time to explore your concerns and for me to give you strategies to start in the home that only you can do. Then I work with your child to find out what their stress is and we start strategies to give them more control in their life.
Virtual Services
Virtual appointments or Telehealth. Historically it has been thought that telehealth is of a lower standard of care compared to in-person care. We are currently finding ourselves as a society launched into a whole new realm where these remote options are truly the best, highest standard of care for the community.
Telehealth is a way to receive continuous care from your health care provider by phone, email or virtual services. Our health care providers have extensive experience and knowledge, and are able to discuss, assess and treat a wide variety of injuries. Common treatments through telehealth include educational tools, exercise prescription, progression of home exercise program, pain management, self mobilization, and movement re-training.
About Telehealth
- Telehealth services is not appropriate for everyone
- Telehealth service provision will not be the same as an in-person client/health care provider visit due to the fact that it will not be in the same room as your health care provider. Certain portions of the objective examination may not be possible to perform due to this.
- Advantages of telehealth include the benefit of continuity of care in the physical absence of your clinician or yourself in clinic, as well as the ability to be treated from any location as long as your primary residence is located in Saskatchewan.
- Our telehealth service uses secure, end-to-end encryption, and is HIPAA & PIPEDA compliant.
Physiotherapy: The majority of what our clients come to see us for in fact is not for the hands on treatment, but rather for the 6+ years of education, in addition to the countless hours of continuing education and courses, plus the clinic hours and experience; it is the combination of these factors that make a physiotherapists ability to consider the information provided, analyze movement and carefully select exercises to prescribe that is the true "magic" behind physiotherapy. There are a wide variety of answers for this, but in our current climate, it is a way to obtain expert advice for pain management and movement restrictions. Through knowledge and education, as well as guidance through appropriate exercises, telehealth options may also be appropriate for some client’s suffering from pelvic health disorders such as incontinence or pain. Physiotherapists are educated over several years (now requiring a 4 year bachelor and over 2 year master's degrees) where we are educated about various body systems, pain processing, anatomy, observational skills and active listening among much more. Many people think of physiotherapy as what we can do to you, but it is in our education that we empower you, combined with our observational skills and knowledge of exercise as rehabilitation that we can support you through telehealth rehabilitation.
Counselling: often thought of as sitting on a couch with a box of kleenex next to the counsellor and pouring out all your problems. During this uncertain time feeling like you have no where to turn or talk to can increase many difficulties you were already facing. Connecting through a secure video link will give you the option of sharing your thoughts and feelings, and developing new strategies to support your mental health
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine is a form of primary health care that understands that the body is constantly trying to heal itself in a principle called "the Healing Power of Nature". When we understand that, we can approach the body as a whole self, and direct our initiative at finding the root cause of dis-ease. By finding the root cause we can direct the patient in making changes in their life through a multitude of options to allow the body to heal itself.
All regulated naturopathic schools are a four year post undergraduate program which means we have at least 8 years of education. We truly are "medically trained but naturally focused" as the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors have promoted.
